Don’t you just love spring time? After short days and long winter nights, it’s nice to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. With flowers blooming, trees sprouting, and perfect patio weather, it’s hard not to get excited about this season!
If you’re at home with your kids during the day, this is the perfect time to get outside for some learning and fun. I have complied a list of some of our favorite things to do during the spring. My girls are 4, 2, and 1 so our activities are geared toward toddlers.
Us moms need some love too, so I created a spring bucket list for us as well. Just as the earth comes alive and renews its beauty, we should take some time to do the same.
Bucket List- Toddler Edition
We have already started checking a few things off our bucket list as we get out and enjoy the warm weather.

Going to the zoo is a must for us, we even bought a pass that will last us the entire year so we can go several times. I’m also using our visits as an opportunity to incorporate animals we’re learning about at home so that they can put a name with a “face” so to speak.
The girls enjoyed seeing the animals up close and personal, and spending time with new friends here in Prague. The giraffe exhibit was their favorite because they were able to watch them from an arm’s length away.
Like most toddlers, my girls LOVE to paint! We found these smooth rocks on our walk from the zoo and I knew they would be perfect for us to paint. I kind of let the girls do their own thing this time around, and next time we can try different techniques or specific designs.
The key is having a nice flat, smooth surface without a lot of pores that will soak up your paint. The first step before you get started is to get your supplies. We used watercolors, but any type of non-toxic craft paint should do. I bought new paintbrushes and found a piece of foam for the girls to sit on while they painted on the patio. Grocery bags came in handy for keeping the mess to a minimum.
Before you let the kiddos get started, be sure to wash your rocks with soap and water to remove all dirt and grit. We set them in the sun after washing to let them dry before applying the paint.
That’s basically all there is to it! I really just wanted them to have fun and create whatever came to mind. I did help Maci paint her flower at the end because she had washed out most of the color on her rock due to wetting her brush too much.
*Tip: Let paint dry between coats if you’re creating a design with layers of colors
Puff paint also looks really neat on rocks, so we’ll be trying that out next time!
Bucket List- Mom Edition
I haven’t gotten as far along with my bucket list, but I have set up our patio seating and started adding bits of spring colors to my décor. We’re still rocking our Easter inspired elements for spring so I don’t plan to make too many changes.
I do plan to order a few books on my list to read this quarter very soon.
I’ve also vowed to sit outside on my bedroom balcony more to enjoy my tea while I read the word in the mornings. Small changes to our routines can make the biggest difference in the tone of our day.
These are just a few items on our bucket list that I wanted to highlight. Make sure you enter your info to receive your printables before you go.
I’ll be sharing photos on my social media accounts of all the items we’re checking off our buckets lists! What are you most looking forward to doing this spring?
I love that you included a mom and toddler
Couldn’t leave us out Haley! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
I love your bucket list! Since we are still dealing with sporadic cold weather with a snow shower, we put the zoo on our summer bucket list but can’t wait to go to the park soon.
I started an herb garden for the first time this year to go along with my veggie garden. I am learning how to cook with more fresh herbs and can’t wait for them to grow.
This winter has been brutal! Fresh herbs and veggies make such a difference in the taste of your food! Way to go Meagan! Sending warm vibes in hopes for spring weather soon!
We have yet to paint rocks but I’ve been wanting to forever. I know my son will love it. I’ll have to use your tips!
It’s so much fun!! Thanks for reading Inez.
